The role of radiographer towards patient care

 A radiographer is a highly-skilled healthcare professional who uses medical imaging equipment such as X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasound to provide high-quality diagnostic images. They are vital in ensuring that the doctor and radiologist receive the best radiographs possible, which aid in the diagnosis of chronic disease in patients. Their existence is undeniably significant because radiographers' procedures and tests will determine the doctors' medical evaluation. In addition to offering mental and physical support to patients during the pre-test and post-test periods, they also provide comfort and safety to patients to rely on.


Radiographers role in safety:


  • Use correct isolation, sterile, and aseptic practices to protect the patient, yourself, and others from contagious infections.

  • Verify patient identification before any radiograph is taken

  • Reassure and comfort the nervous or terrified patient emotionally and physically such as providing a blanket and communicating with the patient verbally.

  • When moving and transferring patients, use good body mechanics to avoid further injury or complications.

  • Define vital sign monitoring and define the role of the radiologic technologist in this component of patient care.

  • Provides proper patient education to provide them with a holistic understanding of the projections and implications.

  •  Use high-quality radiography techniques that incorporate radiation safety to decrease radiation dose towards the patient

  • Avoid taking a long time or repeating in exposure during the procedure.
